Developed during the late Cold War era as an evolution of the early Casull designs, the American 180 submachine gun gained fame for its unbelievable cyclic rate of fire exceeding 1,200 rounds per minute and its high-capacity pan drum magazine. Originally utilized by law enforcement agencies and specialized correctional tactical units, its terrifying fire density and minimal recoil made it a legendary close-quarters weapon system. While rooted in modern tactical innovation rather than classic conflict theaters like WW2 or WWII, it stands as one of the most iconic rimfire NFA machine guns ever produced.
