History:
During WWII and the Cold War, the US Military utilized Mark 149 fiber containers to protect 20mm cannon rounds during transit and tactical storage. These specialized sleeves fielded ammunition for systems including the M61 Vulcan, M197 Gatling cannon, US Navy Mk 12, M39 revolver cannon, and early Mk 15 Phalanx CIWS systems across F-4, F-14, F-15, F-16, F/A-18, A-4, and AH-1 Cobra platforms. The protective fiberboard construction shielded sensitive fuzes and brass casings from moisture and handling damage prior to loading.
