History:
The CHEST 49-1-84 wooden ammunition box was standardized by U.S. Army Ordnance during the interwar period and saw extensive service throughout World War II. Designed primarily to hold and feed 250-round cloth belts for the water-cooled M1917A1 and air-cooled M1919 series .30 caliber Browning machine guns, these chests attached directly to weapon tripods or were positioned beside gun positions to ensure reliable feeding during sustained fire operations.
Condition:
Original WWII military surplus condition. Displays natural age-appropriate wear, minor wood distressing, and oxidation on hardware while retaining original olive drab paint, functional latch and hinge mechanisms, and clear exterior and interior stenciling. Please inspect high-resolution photographs closely for exact physical condition.

Standard non-firearm, non-NFA military surplus item. No FFL or special licenses required for purchase. Ships directly to buyer. Payment accepted via major methods including PayPal Friends & Family (available on non-firearm/non-ammunition items).
