Introduced in 1931, the Zeltbahn 31 served as the standard triangular shelter quarter and multi-purpose camouflage poncho for Wehrmacht personnel throughout World War II. Printed with the distinct Splittermuster 31 (Splinter Camouflage) pattern, these durable canvas quarters buttoned together to construct multi-person field tents or were worn individually as weather-resistant ponchos. They saw extensive field service across all major European combat theaters from the outbreak of hostilities through 1945.
