This is an authentic pre-World War II German Wehrmacht Tragekasten 24 metal transport case, factory stamped and dated 1938. Designed to secure and transport 15 Model 1924 Stielhandgranaten—commonly known to Allied troops as the "potato masher" grenade—these heavy sheet-metal cases provided essential weather resistance and protection for field supply lines. The chest features internal cradles to hold fully assembled grenades along with dedicated compartments for detonators and friction fuzes.
