The Wien 41 (*Minensuchgerät 41*) served as the standard mine detection apparatus issued to German Wehrmacht Pioneer (combat engineer) units during World War II. These custom-built, heavy-duty wooden field chests were engineered to transport and protect the sensitive amplifier control unit, search coil, headsets, and spare vacuum tubes (*Reserve-Röhren*) in active combat zones. Surviving transport cases with clear original stenciling and intact interior compartment structures are highly collectible pieces of German wartime ordnance equipment.
